About the Featured Auctions:
SportsCardLink held quarterly Featured Auctions in 2011 and 2012, and will be doing so again in 2013. We have auctioned an impressive selection of both vintage graded sports cards and sports memorabilia (including the personal collections of Ralph Terry and Ed Kranepool and many other historic items from Ty Cobb to Babe Ruth to Mickey Mantle and beyond!). Auctions have included many impressive cards, ranging from turn-of-the-century issues such as the 1909-11 T206 set, to 1914/15 Cracker Jacks, to 1930's Goudeys and Play Balls, to the 1952 Topps set, and beyond. We've even auctioned a Mickey Mantle Topps Rookie once owned by "the Mick" himself! Exciting rarities have been auctioned including the W600 find and the T206 Lenox Back find. We find that our sellers are extremely satisfied with our auction services. We go to great lengths to provide our sellers with tailored customer service and targeted expertise. We combine that focus with a savvy marketing prowess, and a low commission structure in order to actualize each seller's main objective when selling at auction -- that is, a good experience within which the seller is happy with the net price results realized for his or her valuable material. Up-font cash advances of up to $1 Million are also available for valuable consignments. To inquire about or to participate in upcoming auctions as a seller, simply call Chris Porter, Josh Nathanson or Douglas Gillock at 617-517-0072 (option 1 for sales) or email over your prospective consignment list to email@example.com for a prompt reply. Up to $1 Million dollars worth of cash advances can be provided for the right material, and early consignments will receive preferential advertising exposure.
About the SportsCardLink Exchange:
The Sports Card Exchange TM is a full service exchange and brokerage service for vintage, investment quality sports cards. Our mission is to bring buyers and sellers of vintage sports cards the most comprehensive and secure buying and selling environment in the industry. We pride ourselves on our vast experience in the collectibles industry, extensive client base of collectibles buyers, and a reputation for honesty, integrity and professionalism. Though the web site is automated for your convenience, customer service is a top priority and the SportsCardLink staff is accessible to answer your questions throughout every weekday.
The SportsCardLink Exchange works like the stock market - it is a bid/ask system where sellers list available items at a set asking price. Interested buyers can either place a buy order at the asking price in order to secure the desired item or submit a bid (that is, make an offer below the asking price) in hopes that the seller is willing to negotiate. An order is filled when item availability is confirmed and both parties agree on price.
Outright Purchase Option
We will also assist sellers that need immediate cash for their graded sports cards or vintage sports card collections by purchasing them outright and issuing immediate payment.
SportsCardLink President Josh Nathanson is a lifetime sports card and comic book collector, and has transacted in tens of millions of dollars worth of vintage collectibles. Nathanson is also founder and CEO of ComicLink, bringing together buyers and sellers of vintage comic books and original comic art. Nathanson was selected for Gemstone Publishing's Diamond Dialogue and Scoop "Star Collector" interview in 2005, a privilege shared by the most honored collecting aficionados. He graduated Cornell University in 1995 with a bachelors degree in Business Management and Marketing, soon after which he worked on Wall Street for a trading subsidiary of Barclays bank and then decided to pursue his passion for collectibles full-time. Nathanson received an MBA in Marketing in 1999 from Long Island University at CW Post, where he received the Dean's Award for graduating first in the University's MBA class of 1999.
Chris Porter, Consignment Director of SportsCardLink, bought his first pack of baseball cards in 1972 as a 5-year old in Lansing, Michigan. Right from that first pack, which included the most beautiful baseball card ever made (1972 Topps #150 Norm Cash), he was hooked. Chris graduated from Michigan State University in 1989 with an Accounting degree but his passion has always been for sports cards. His experiences in the hobby have been broad and varied. Chris was the chief sports card acquirer for Superior Sports Auctions (and company President from 2002 – 2004), as well as Lelands (2004 – 2006). He went on to work for Mastro Auctions from 2006 – 2009. Chris has bought, sold or been involved in the auctioning of virtually every important card in the hobby, including four T206 Wagners, several T206 Planks, several 1933 Goudey Lajoies, and so much more. Chris has been involved in his share of private placement sales as well. In 2002, for example, Chris sold one of only 3 copies of the 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle that PSA has graded PSA 10 Gem Mint for the then astronomical price of $275,000. In 2008, as a representative of Mastro Auctions, Chris purchased a complete 1952 Topps set graded almost entirely PSA 8 and sold most of the cards for record prices.
Chris has enjoyed working with collectors and dealers all across North America, helping them to buy or sell single cards or complete collections. His constant evaluation of the card market and innate knowledge of market value as well as intrinsic value has allowed him to creatively structure deals for the mutual satisfaction of all parties. His goal at SportsCardLink is for everyone involved to feel satisfied with every transaction that we consummate.
Sales and Auction Coordinator, Douglas Gillock, comes to the hobby with both a historical and aesthetic perspective. Having received a BA in Fine Art and Art History from Bennington College, Douglas has shown his paintings and drawings throughout the United States and has written articles for major collectibles publications. Douglas has been involved with multiple collectibles fields since his youth and has worked with SportsCardLink coordinating consignments since its inception in 2007. He is especially interested in turn-of-the-century boxing memorabilia and vintage sports photography.
Specializing in vintage, graded sports cards
SportsCardLink specializes specifically in vintage sports cards graded by PSA, SGC, GAI and BGS. Buyers can select from cards listed by vintage sports card sellers all over the world.
All items can be purchased or bid on at anytime, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If there is an item on the Sports Card Exchange that you are interested in purchasing, but you think the price is too high, you can submit a bid (an offer to the seller to purchase the item at your bid price). You will receive a response always within 5 business days, and frequently within 24 hours of your offer.
Buyers can find accurately graded and competitively priced sports cards on SportsCardLink and save on shipping costs by purchasing more than one sports card at the same time. Shipping costs will be combined regardless of whether or not multiple items are ordered belonging to more than one seller. All items are insured while in transit from SportsCardLink to the buyer.
New items can be listed at any time - buyers who check back frequently can get first shot at the best cards and the best deals!
Safety and Fraud Prevention
SportsCardLink gives buyers 100% protection against fraud, which unfortunately is running rampant in the online collectibles industry. A number of our clients have complained about having sent payment to unknown Internet auction sellers only to realize later that they have been swindled. A frequent tactic on eBay, for example, is for a seller to build up feedback buying and selling low dollar items, then go in for the kill. He will make a copy of the image of an expensive item he doesn't own, and then sell it on eBay. It is a common trick we have seen many times. Multiple clients of ours have lost thousands from this tactic and other scams on eBay and consequently will never buy there again. SportsCardLink protects buyers from these horrors because all items are received by SportsCardLink and inspected before sent to the buyer. This assures that buyers receive what they pay for. Unlike other online Sports Card venues, you don't have to worry about being taken advantage of by unscrupulous sellers when buying from SportsCardLink - it is the safest place to purchase expensive, investment-quality sports cards from other sellers over the Internet.
If a particular sports card that you are interested in is not currently available on the site, you can make use of SportsCardLink's Wantlist Service. This service notifies you the instant an item matching your specifications is available - it is a great way to add to your collection and get a jump on other eager buyers interested in the same material! To start using this service right away, click here. If you are a new customer and are not yet a registered user, you must register prior to using the service.
All sports cards are securely and professionally packaged and insured (unless otherwise requested) when shipped from SportsCardLink to the buyer.
Free Investment Advice
Sports cards are a great investment. Throughout history, they have been proven to have as much upside as the best stocks without the same downside risk. No matter how much a buyer loves sports cards, at a certain price level it is always considered an investment. Upon request, SportsCardLink will provide free, objective investment advice for clients considering listed items for purchase. It is sometimes difficult to choose between investments and some are better than others. Speaking with a professional can help. We can also help you to build a collection or investment portfolio that meets your specific needs. We have a vast network of contacts and have access to many of the most precious and valuable sports cards and sports card art known to exist.
Confidentiality and Anonymity
SportsCardLink has among its client list numerous high profile individuals that want to remain anonymous, whether buying items for their collection or selling.. Unless otherwise instructed, SportsCardLink will keep buyer and seller information in the strictest of confidence. We realize that trustworthiness is tantamount to having reputable partnerships.
Payment is due within 7 days of the day that our final order confirmation is sent to you via email. Late payment may result in permanent cancellation of a buyer's SportsCardLink account. We do offer time payment plans but only if your arrange it with us in advance of placing an order. If time is needed, please call in advance of placing an order to work out terms (617-517-0072).
A Note on Cancelling Orders Placed:
Sellers must be able to rely on orders that buyers place through the SportsCardLink system. Any questions that may lead to your not wanting an item must be asked prior to placing an order in the system. Through our system, buyers have ample time to review the item(s) ordered prior to submitting and confirming the order on the site. Changing your mind after a legally binding order (or, offer to purchase) is placed is not fair to sellers. Therefore, SportsCardLink will not cancel an order after it has been placed by the buyer. Failure to pay for an item ordered will result in permanent cancellation of a buyer's account and, in select cases, may result in legal action.
Terms and Conditions for Buying on SportsCardLink
Please read the terms and conditions carefully before placing an order with SportsCardLink. The terms and conditions will apply to every transaction unless another arrangement is made. If trust is an issue for you, the most reputable references will gladly be provided upon request.
Whether you are an experienced dealer or collector, or a novice seller, SportsCardLink is the smart place to sell your sports cards and memorabilia. Seller Service Options
Sellers receive many benefits in selling sports cards on SportsCardLink. These include, but are not limited to:
Three Selling Venues
We offer a combination of venues through which to sell: the Featured Auction and the Sports Card Exchange TM.
The Featured Auction:
Our Featured Auctions contain both graded sports cards and sports memorabilia of high quality, specializing in vintage material. We offer the lowest auction commission structure in the industry, translating into less out of the pockets of our sellers. Our auction deal truly cannot be beat! We are always looking for new material for upcoming auctions, so if you have a collection of vintage sports cards (already certified or certification worthy) or historical memorabilia that you believe qualifies for one of our Featured Auctions, we welcome you to email us your prospective auction list via email or telephone (617-517-0072 ext. 104).
The Sports Card Exchange:
The Sports Card Exchange works like the stock market - it is a bid/ask system where you can list available items at a set asking price. Interested buyers can either place a buy order at your asking price or submit a bid (that is, make an offer below the asking price). You can then respond to buy orders and bids from SportsCardLink's CardTrack TM section. The beauty of listing sports cards in this section is that it can only be a win-win situation. You either sell an item at a price you are happy with or you need not sell it! Sellers need only list items in the Exchange section once and they are listed until either sold, deleted or moved to auction.
If you have quality material from the 1800's through 1975 and you would like to receive payment immediately, we can pay you a generous price for your collection. If interested in this option, email us your list of items for sale, or give us a call at 617-517-0072.
Benefits of Selling on the Sports Card Exchange:
Top Dollar and Cost Savings:
In addition to the ability to yield record breaking prices, listing on the Exchange also keeps your costs down! Exchange transactions will always be "win-win". There is no listing or reserve fee. If your item does not sell, you are not charged a cent for items listed for $50 or more (items listed for less than $50 are subject to a $5 listing fee). Avoidance of these unnecessary fees that other sites charge can lead to significant cost savings for you. For graded sports cards, there is only a 10% seller commission taken out of the sales price, if and only if an item sells (we have to stay in business, somehow!) - the bottom line is that you will net a full 90% of the price that you accept for your item on the Sports Card Exchange (e.g. if you accept a bid of $500 for one of your cards, you receive a check from us for $450).
We understand that your time is very precious and have designed our system with that in mind. First, you can list your entire inventory in the Sports Card Exchange section within a very short period of time - very little effort on your part can result in very significant sales. If you are unfamiliar with the listing process or if you have many items to list, and are unsure of how to get started, simply contact us (617-517-0072) and we will advise you on the fastest way to start selling your items. Secondly, since there is no time limit imposed on your Sports Card Exchange listings, you do not have the drawback of having to do the work every week to relist your items. This is another major time saver for our sellers.
Available Customer Service:
SportsCardLink enables you to negotiate quickly, efficiently and anonymously with buyers yourself through the SportsCardLink system. However, sellers can also expect top rate service from our professional staff. Our experts can recommend a sales strategy, suggest pricing, and for the most valuable items we can negotiate with buyers on your behalf. Phone hours are weekdays between 9AM and 6PM EST (617-517-0072).
Effortless Transaction Processing
When you sell on SportsCardLink, and we don't already have the sold items in our possession, all you need to do is send them to us. We do everything else involved with the transaction, from shipping out your cards to multiple parties to handling credit card processing without charging you a fee! Even though you will be selling to many different buyers, you won't have to spend time dealing with multiple parties for each transaction, shipping out many packages, or worrying about bounced checks and costly credit card processing fees.
Insurance and Professional Packaging
Your items are always insured on SportsCardLink premises and in transit to buyers, and items are always professionally packaged.
You can count on prompt payment when you sell your items through SportsCardLink. Unlike other services that take as long as 2-3 months after selling an item to settle the account (as much as 6 months after the initial consignment), SportsCardLink mails payments every two weeks for all completed Exchange sales to date, and within 30 days for auction sales.
Seller Service Options
An option for sellers offering a great degree of exposure at extremely reasonable rates is SportsCardLink's quarterly Featured Auction. If you would like to participate in upcoming auctions, and have professionally graded, vintage (or valuable) sports cards or vintage sports memorabilia, simply email email@example.com your prospective auction list, or call 617/517-0072 (option 1) to speak with Chris Porter, Douglas Gillock, Josh Nathanson or other members of the SportsCardLink Team. The earlier you contact us, the more exposure you will receive!
Sellers may also choose to sell within the Sports Card Exchange. Two Exchange service options are available to the seller:
Selling Option #1 (Consignment not required):
Sellers of cards graded by PSA, SGC, GAI and BGS automatically qualify for Selling Option #1. If you want to sell graded cards, and you are a registered user, click on the "Sell" link at the top of the web site to apply to be a seller. To do this now, click here. We will review your submission and contact you promptly with a response. Once approved, you can begin listing under Selling Option #1 and start to generate increased sales through SportsCardLink. For more information about this option, click here.
Selling Option #2 (Full-Service Consignment Level):
This option is popular among owners of collections or collectors who are ready to sell but don't have the time or expertise necessary to determine which cards should be professionally graded or not. If you have vintage sports cards, you can send us your collection and we will use our market knowledge to determine what makes sense and what doesn't, and then sell your sports cards for you to maximize the prices realized for the cards in your collection. Due to time constraints, only sports cards from the 1800's thru the1950's, and high-grade or sufficiently valuable sports cards from the 1960's or later qualify for this option. To get started, click here to provide us with some more information. For more information about this option, click here.
Bank checks, certified checks, money orders (except personal money orders) and credit card orders can be processed most quickly. Cashier's and Personal checks must clear before the order is shipped. Bank wires are possible for more expensive transactions. Buyers outside of the U.S. - please make sure that if you pay by check or money order the note is drawn off of a U.S. bank with a U.S. bank name written on the face of the note. Checks and money orders are accepted in U.S. dollars only
Since cards posted on SportsCardLink are professionally graded, there will be no refund issued for grading discrepancies.
Cancelling Orders Placed
Orders cannot be cancelled. Sellers must be able to rely on orders that buyers place through the SportsCardLink ystem. Any questions that may lead to a buyer not wanting an item must be placed prior to placing an order in the system. Through our system, buyers have ample time to review the item(s) ordered prior to submitting and confirming the order on the site. Changing your mind after a legally binding order (or, offer to purchase) is placed is not fair to the sellers. Therefore, SportsCardLink will not cancel an order after it has been placed by the buyer. Therefore, failure to pay for an item ordered will result in permanent cancellation of a buyer's account and, in some cases, potential legal action.
Buyers are responsible for shipping and handling. Rates vary and can be seen during the ordering process upon checkout.

Packaging advice for sellers -
We recommend that sellers avoid padded envelopes unless the sports cards are surrounded by very rigid material, making shipping damage extremely unlikely. We strongly suggest mailing your sports cards within boxes. Envelopes are too easily damaged in transit and all too often crack cases or turn a near mint card into a fine. We also suggest that you surround the sports cards by thick cardboard or bubble wrap on each side.. Secure the sports cards in place within the box so that they do not move around in transit -- this will also prevent corner and edge damage. Make sure to insure the package for the full value and have the receiver (SportsCardLink) sign for the package.

Services Provided to the Seller
1) Free listings until your items are sold (for items worth $50 or more unless under contract).
2) Full-service brokerage and transaction processing - this includes everything from negotiating with buyers on your behalf to free credit card processing. You only need to deal with SportsCardLink. Selling through SportsCardLink allows you to avoid the hassle of dealing with multiple, unknown parties.
3) No exclusive required. This option allows the seller to hold the listed items on his or her premises while listing them on SportsCardLink. Because we only want you to benefit from listing your items with SportsCardLink, you are not prohibited from selling listed items yourself. There are a few rules, however (see the requirements below).
4) All Inclusive Option. If you are interested in consigning cards with SportsCardLink, and the cards are significantly valuable and have already been or will be graded by PSA, SGC, GAI or BGS, you can send the cards to us and we will do the scanning and listing for you. We will then hold them at our location to ship off to buyers as the cards sell, instead of you having to ship them to us one at a time. If you need expert pricing advice, or would like us to do the pricing for you, we will also provide that for you. All this, for no extra charge! If you are interested, email us a list of sports cards you propose to send with "Seller Option #1 All Inclusive Option" in the subject field, and we will review the list and send you a prompt response. Before sending the email, please make sure you have registered and applied to be a seller already by clicking the "sell" tab at the top of the web site and filling out the short seller registration form.
1) If any listed item is no longer available in the future, you must immediately delete it from the SportsCardLink database (you can do this from your sports cardTrack section). This is necessary in order to keep the listings current.
2) cards submitted to SportsCardLink for listing can be advertised by the seller elsewhere while on SportsCardLink if the price is the same or lower on SportsCardLink. This is necessary in order to keep the listings competitive.
3) Seller must agree to the execution details directly below.
Execution details - Upon notification from SportsCardLink that your sell order can be filled, you are obligated to ship that Sports Card to SportsCardLink at your expense by a recognized courier service such as FedEx, the U.S. Postal Service or UPS. You must use best efforts to make certain that SportsCardLink receives your Sports Card within five (5) business days following the date you have been notified, or SportsCardLink is not obligated to process the sale (although SportsCardLink may still choose to do so). In the event that a carrier charges SportsCardLink a receiver's fee or a customs fee, that fee will be passed on to you.
Listing Fees - If a large number of cards valued at $50 or more is submitted to SportsCardLink, there are no listing fees. Otherwise, items listed for less then $50 require a per-item listing fee of $5. Exceptions may be made by prior arrangement between SportsCardLink and the seller.
Commissions - A ten percent (10%) seller commission is charged after the sale. No commission is levied on unsold items. This low commission translates into increased sales and a maximum percentage of the actual sale price going directly to the seller.
Selling Option #2
This option is popular among owners of collections or collectors who are ready to sell but don't have the time or expertise necessary to determine which cards should be professionally graded or not. If you have vintage sports cards, you can send us your collection and we will use our market knowledge to determine what makes sense and what doesn't, and then sell your sports cards for you to maximize the prices realized for the cards in your collection. Due to time constraints, only sports cards from the 1800's thru the1950's, and high-grade or sufficiently valuable sports cards from the 1960's or later qualify for this option. To get started, click here to provide us with some more information.
Services Provided to the Seller
4) Pricing recommendations
5) Price guide calculations
6) Scanning of key items - all consigned items worth $500 or more will be scanned within one week of receipt. Other consigned items will be scanned as time allows.
7) Credit card processing
8) Safe packaging and insured shipping to buyers (including provision of shipping materials)
9) Escrow Service
10) You will also benefit from our large customer base and advertising expenditures.
1) Normally, the seller will give SportsCardLink the right to sell the consigned cards for a minimum period of 6 months. Other arrangements may be negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
Listing Fees - None
Other fees - There are no fees unless SportsCardLink sells your cards for you. After the sale, we charge a 20% seller commission (another arrangement may be made, but only for very desirable material). This is the absolute lowest total commission that you will find in the industry for the full service we provide.
Here's why: Most services charge both a seller commission and a hefty buyer commission with the total commission frequently adding up to 35-40%. Take the following example:
Company A advertises the lowest seller commission in the industry. It charges a 20% buyer commission and a 15% seller commission. The total commission from the sold item is 35%. Therefore, the seller ends up getting only 65% of the value of his item.
Company B charges a 20% seller commission and a 0% buyer commission. This results in the seller realizing 80% of the value of his item.
Which company would you choose? Even though Company A charges "only" a 15% seller commission, you would obviously be better off with Company B for two reasons. First, you will realize more money for your items, and second Company B's policy of not charging high buyer commissions does not "turn off" buyers and decrease sales.
